The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako will be hiring a Business Forum Organizer and Startup Business Contest Coordinator in temporary, term positions for a maximum of 200 hours each.  The person(people) should be a self-driven, dynamic individual who will assist the Regional Economic Development Department and Advisory Committees to organize the events. The Contest will be opening in March, with the finalists making presentations at the Regional Business Forum taking place in Burns Lake, September 19 and 20. The successful candidate(s) is an energetic, motivated, team player that has experience organizing events.  The rate of pay will be $22.50/hour.  The successful candidate is responsible for travel costs that may occur if not residing in Burns Lake.

 Regional Business Forum Event Organizer

Temporary Employee, 200 hours

Responsibilities will include arranging for presenters, creating and arranging for the event agenda, arranging for catering and supplies, marketing the event, securing sponsorship, managing budget, organizing tradeshow, and preparing a final report.

The Regional Business Forum has been taking place across the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako since 2008. The primary goal of the 2017 RDBN Business Forum is to give business owners, industry, economic developers, all levels of government, First Nations, educators, employment/business supports and non-profit organizations from across the region the opportunity to gather for learning and networking. Approximately 120 people per day are expected to attend the event.

Startup Business Contest Coordinator

Temporary Employee, 200 hours

Responsibilities will include preparing contest applications, marketing the contest, securing sponsorship, assisting entrants, preparing application packages for the judges, organizing prize packages, assisting with gala dinner where winner will be announced (September 19) and writing a final report.

The Startup Business Contest is designed to promote new and start-up small businesses.  Entrants provide a detailed business plan and five finalist are selected from across the region.  The finalists present their concept pitch at the RDBN’s 2017 Regional Business Forum in Burns Lake (September 19-20, 2017).  A panel of judges, with assistance from the Business Forum attendees, make the final decision on a winning business proposal.  The winning business is announced at the gala dinner held at the Regional Business Forum.
