The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako is seeking a qualified person to fill the position of Building Inspector / Bylaw Enforcement Officer. The Building Inspector duties involve undertaking the day to day work associated with implementing the Building Bylaw, including the review and issuance of building permits and performing building inspections, under the direct supervision of the Chief Building Inspector. The Bylaw Enforcement Officer duties involve the full range of activities associated with enforcing building and land use planning regulations including undertaking investigations, responding to the public, record keeping, and enforcement action.
The Regional District is looking for an individual that has a working knowledge of the BC Building Code and building practices and procedures; and has the ability to attend training and pass the exams necessary to meet Provincial qualification requirements for a Building Official. The Regional District is open to considering applications from persons with a strong construction background that have the ability to be trained as a qualified Building Inspector.
The position requires a motivated and solutions oriented individual with exceptional communications skills. It is possible that this position may transition into a full time Building Inspector position over time.
