Accounting Clerk

Regular Full-Time

The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako’s Finance Department requires a regular full-time Accounting Clerk to join its three member financial services team.   Located in Burns Lake, British Columbia, the Regional District provides regional government services to seven rural areas and eight municipalities. 

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will be responsible for some of the day to day financial matters of the Regional District including accounts receivable, accounts payable, invoicing, cash management and deposits, general ledger activities, and banking.  In addition you will assist with payroll, budget preparation and other related tasks.

You will have considerable related accounting experience in a computerized accounting environment, preferably in a local government setting.  You will also have completed post-secondary accounting courses or have an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.  Candidates must have experience in Microsoft Office.  Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential. 

A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered based on the experience of the successful applicant.  The hours of work for this position are Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. 

Travel within the region is a requirement for this position.  Applicants must have a valid class 5 (or class 7) driver’s license.  Successful applicants may be required to undergo periodic criminal record checks.
