The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako is seeking applicants for eight summer positions.
The wage for all positions is $23.95 per hour. Start and end dates vary and are negotiable.

Economic Development Department:


Economic Development/Agriculture Summer Student

Reporting to the Manager of Strategic Initiatives and Rural Services, the employee will assist with tourism and agriculture marketing initiatives, research, and public outreach. Duties will be assisting with day-to-day economic development matters, including social media content creation, administrative support for programs, representing the RDBN at events in the region, filing and archiving records, and other duties as required.

This is an ideal opportunity for a student enrolled in post-secondary studies with a keen interest in community economic development and agriculture to gain valuable hands-on experience by working within a local government department.

Environmental Services Summer Student Labourer - Burns Lake

Reporting to an Operations Supervisor, the employee will assist with environmental services operations, recycling programs, and seasonal maintenance. Duties will include manual labour for construction and maintenance projects, assist with building and site maintenance, assist the department staff with other special projects, brushing and weed whacking, litter clean-up, painting, general maintenance, and other duties as required

Finance Department:


Finance Summer Student

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the employee will assist with financial services operation, and daily financial activities. Duties will include assisting with day-to-day financial matters including accounts payables, accounts receivable, invoicing, bank deposits, receipts, and petty cash disbursements, filing and archiving of financial records, preparing and updating the Regional District's asset management plans, aiding in the development of the Regional District Climate Action Plan, and other duties as required.

Planning Department:


Planning Summer Student

Reporting to the Director of Planning, the employee will perform a variety of duties in support of the efficient operation of the Planning Department. Duties will include: maintaining and updating Planning Department records; conducting research; responding to requests for land use and development related information; assisting in the preparation of reports and other documents; assisting in the processing of development applications; organizing public meetings; and assisting in the maintenance of Regional District parks and trails. In addition to the above a special project this year will include researching available mapping and other resources to identify the location of the telegraph trail through the Regional District.

Planning Summer Student - Job Description

 

Protective Services Department:


FireSmart Summer Student

Reporting to the Regional Fire Chief, the employee will assist with engaging in FireSmart communications with the residents of the RDBN as well as organizing and reporting on FireSmart outreach. Duties will include social media, organizing, planning, and participating in events, and meetings with property owners.

This is an ideal opportunity for a student enrolled in post-secondary studies with a keen interest and willingness to research and learn about FireSmart, emergency preparedness public safety education, and to gain valuable hands-on experience by working within a local government protective services department.
