The Smithers Rural Fire Protection Area service is provided by Smithers Fire Rescue.  Smithers Fire Rescue is operated by the Town of Smithers.  The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako provides annual funding to support operations and capital purchases.

The Smithers Fire Rescue provides the following services to the Smithers Rural Fire Protection Area residents:

• Structural Firefighting
• Road Rescue
• Volunteer Firefighter Training
